The "Alexandru and Aristia Aman" County Library has developed several projects with European funding:
Cultural Summer School
The “Cultural Summer School” project, financed under Phare CBC 2004 in partnership with Tzviat Community Center, Vidin, Bulgaria, RO 2004/016-784.01.04.01.13, a project that supported cultural exchanges between Dolj County/Romania and Vidin/Bulgaria and the organization of art exhibitions and seminars on the customs and traditions, history and literature of the two peoples.
The value of the project was 49,700 euros.
"LIBRARY - the world in my library"
The “BIBLIONET – the world in my library” program is a five-year program (2010-2014), which facilitated free access to information for Romanians, by developing a system of modern public libraries in Romania. Global Libraries, an initiative of the “Bill & Melinda Gates” Foundation, supports the transformation of public libraries into vital tools for improving the living standards of hundreds of thousands of people. 76 public libraries in Dolj County were equipped with 371 computers and IT equipment, 86 librarians were trained.

Cross Border Center for Information and Communication Dolj-Vratsa/Centrul Transfrontalier de Informació y Comunicações Dolj-Vratsa
The Cross Border Center for Information and Communication Dolj-Vratsa project, financed by the Romania Bulgaria Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013. The project was carried out between March 28, 2013 and May 31, 2016, value €3,280,442.27. Project partners: Dolj County Council, Lead partner, “Alexandru and Aristia Aman” County Library, partner 2, “Hristo Botev” Vratsa Regional Library, partner 3, and Vratsa District Administration, partner 4; Objective – contribution to the sustainable development of the Dolj-Vratsa cross-border region as a consequence of the development of ICT – based on information and communication networks and services in the Dolj-Vratsa cross-border area. Results: consolidation and arrangement of the building on Jiețului Street, no. 21 Craiova, establishment of the Information Portal of Dolj County, support for the regional network formed by the county library, 37 public libraries (municipal, city and communal) in Dolj County and two museums of national importance (servers, data communication equipment, library software licenses).
The total eligible value of the project was 3,280,442.27 euros. The total investment value for the Romanian partners was 1,172,678.12 lei.
The Written Treasures of Lower Danube / Comori scrise ale Dunării de Jos,
The Written Treasures of Lower Danube project, funded under the INTERREG V-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme. The project ran from October 2018 to October 2021, eligible value approx. €200,000. Project partners: Global Libraries Foundation, Sofia, Bulgaria (Leader) and Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library, Ruse, partner. Results: cross-border network of stakeholders in the cultural-tourism field, acquisition of digitization equipment and interactive presentation of exhibitions. https://www.litdanube.eu/
The total eligible approved value of the project was EUR 476,303.58, of which the total value of the activities implemented by the beneficiary – the “Alexandru and Aristia Aman” County Library was EUR 191,821.06 (equivalent to 893,06131 lei/ 893 thousand lei).
Sustainable valorization of the historical monument Casa Dianu in Craiova, Dolj County, by creating a Museum of the Romanian Book and Exile and introducing it into the tourist circuit
The project Sustainable valorization of the historical monument Casa Dianu in Craiova, Dolj County by creating a Museum of the Book and Romanian Exile and introducing it into the tourist circuit, financed under the POR/2016/5/5.1/1 historical call 7 regions, leader and sole partner Dolj County Administrative-Territorial Unit (Dolj County Council). The financing contract was signed in July 2019. The deadline for carrying out the activities is October 31, 2023. Project value: approx. €4 million. Results: consolidation of the heritage building, 24 Ianuarie Street no. 4, Craiova, interior design, purchase of furniture, equipment and interactive software, museum website under construction. The new museum will be managed by the Aman County Library.
The total value of the project was 22,766,058.79 lei, of which the value of non-reimbursable financing from the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) and from the Government of Romania was 19,918,290.08 lei.
"The Library – an active digital learning hub for the Dolj County community"
The project “Library – active digital learning hub for the Dolj County community”, financed by the PNRR. The Dolj County Council (CJ), in partnership with the “Alexandru and Aristia Aman” County Library and 29 UATs from Dolj County, is implementing the project “Library – active digital learning hub for the Dolj County community”. 30 public libraries are equipped with digital furniture and equipment, 4 of which benefit from renovation works of their premises.
The financing is carried out through Component 7 – Digital Transformation from the PNRR, and has a total value of 15,788,850.39 lei, including VAT, and was signed in December 2023. The project implementation period is 24 months.

Creativity and artificial intelligence in the libraries of Vratsa and Dolj / Creativity & AI in Vratsa & Dolj Libraries (CreAI-VDLib – ROBG00257)
The project Creativity and Artificial Intelligence in Vratsa and Dolj Libraries (CreAI-VDLib – ROBG00257) funded under the INTERREG VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme, Priority 3 – An Educated Region, Specific Objective-4.2-Improving equal access to inclusive and quality services in the field of education, training and lifelong learning by developing an accessible infrastructure, including by promoting resilience for distance and online education and training.
The partnership consists of the “Hristo Botev” Regional Library in Vratsa (LP1) and the “Alexandru and Aristia Aman” County Library in Craiova (PP2).
Project objective: Improving equal access to education, training and lifelong learning services in the Vratsa and Dolj regions by modernizing library infrastructure and integrating creativity and artificial intelligence tools.
In each of the partner libraries, the Creative Artificial Intelligence Academy is organized for children (9-15 years old) structured in 5 modules: musical composition, digital painting, creative writing, animation and visual arts, interactive projects.
Associated project partners (without budgetary involvement): 3 public schools in Craiova (Traian Middle School, St. Dumitru Middle School and Buzești Brothers National College) and 2 public schools in Vratsa.

The project Cross-border cooperation to ensure an attractive educational environment – ROBG00326, funded under the INTERREG VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Program, Priority Axis: 3 – An educated region, Specific Objective-4.2-Improving equal access to inclusive and quality services in the field of education, training and lifelong learning by developing an accessible infrastructure, including by promoting resilience for distance and online education and training.
The project partnership is composed of: Secondary school “Hristo Smirnenski” from Gulyantsi, Bulgaria (Lead Beneficiary), County Library “Alexandru and Aristia Aman” Craiova, Romania (Partner 3) and National College “Frații Buzești” Craiova, Romania (Partner 2).
Project objective: Developing a Romanian-Bulgarian partnership with the aim of supporting mutual learning, improving the quality of education, introducing innovative approaches to learning and exchanging practices between institutions on both sides of the border. By introducing innovative educational and motivational approaches, the proposed project will stimulate the general interest of learners in specific areas of their general and complementary education and form a more sustainable interest in distance and online learning. Main activities: development of training materials, training programs, a guide for trainers and workshops with teachers, development of an online and mobile platform for collaborative training

The total budget of the project is 550,356.72 euros (equivalent to 2,757,287.17 lei).
The budget of the “Alexandru and Aristia Aman” County Library, as Partner 3, is 160,215.52 euros, or 802,679.76 lei.
